ABOUT
On the last Saturday in September, Old Town Orcutt explodes with chalk art masterpieces, live music, public art, and community engagement. Since 2011, the OCAF Chalk Festival has been a hugely popular event that draws over 2,000 people to Historic Old Town Orcutt.
The event features over two dozen arts and crafts booths, nonprofit organizations, a kids' corner, and food vendors. Experience an amazing array of locally created art, jewelry, and woodworking. Feed that hunger by supporting our local food trucks, which serve up a variety of tasty food options.
The main highlight of the event is the sidewalk and street chalk paintings that are created throughout the day. Supported by our generous sponsors and brought to life by our talented volunteer artists, these squares transform from gray concrete paths into beautiful expressions of artistic vision. Chalk artists start working on these masterpieces early in the morning, and the public is encouraged to observe their progress throughout the day.
DID YOU KNOW?
The artists and volunteers partner and donate their time and talents. Artists work on their hands and knees creating masterpieces for those who come to view this incredible art performance.
Volunteers work 4-hour shifts, with some working all day and sometimes sleepless nights to get things done. You see, community collaboration is our foundation for success.
